Kaden

I really should be sleeping right now, but I just feel like I need to write down some of the thoughts that have occupied my head the last couples of weeks.

My sister Amber explained it perfectly:

"The main trial in our life has been the passing of my little nephew Kaden. He lived 9 days and touched many, many lives. This experience has made me stronger in my faith and more grateful for my crazy kids and all that I go through with them. I love my family and extended family so much more. (and I didn't think I could love them more than I already did!)"

I feel very blessed to have the Gospel, and to know the Plan of Salvation, and the powers of the Atonement.

I wanted to be there to comfort Sarah and help her through this trying time, but honestly she's been the one lifting me and being such an example of Christ-like love.

Heavenly Father has blessed me with an amazing family, yeah we have had our trials, but we are learning and growing and becoming closer.

Kaden has fulfilled his mission here on earth and I know he is in heaven, silently watching over us. I know he's still my Levi's little buddy, his very own guardian angel! I am so blessed to have my family and I know we will be together for all Eternity.

The night before Kaden passed away I read this quote:

A prophet once said about the loss of his child: "And there too are gathered to my Father’s mansion all my darling lovely ones; not in infantile helplessness, but in all the power and glory and majesty of sanctified spirits! Full of intelligence, of joy and grace, and truth.”

I don't know why, but it was so comforting and reassuring to read this. I know that there is life after this and my dear sister will get to raise her perfect son Kaden one day.

I gave myself a challenge and wanted to do a sketch for Sarah. I choose my favorite picture of him. His little face was so perfect, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do the photo justice. It was a very peaceful experience and I was please with the way it turned out. I dare say it is one of my favorite pieces i've ever done. Thank you for your perfect example Kaden! We love you!

My new favorite clothing store: Plato's Closet

So last week I went into a store called Plato's Closet. It had shoes, pants, skirts, shirts, jackets and all kinds of jewelry, hats, belts, and purses. I didn't have my wallet and we were short on time so I left empty handed.

But today I took Jevan back there and we got all kinds of good deals. Our most expensive item was $14 and I think that was for the shorts. All the other items were $8 or less, most the shirts were $6. It is like a DI but nice quality items with brand names only. Here are some of the brands were got: Abercrombie, Old Navy, Hurley, American Eagle, Aeropostale, Maurices, Perry Ellis, Roxy, Mossimo, Carbon, and Charlotte Russe.

I'm sure most of you already knew about this place. I was just so excited that I don't have to go dig through crap at the DI anymore to find one or two cute things, now I can buy nice clothes here for cheap and they'll buy my clothes too. For those of you up in CV, Logan is getting one soon I hear. :)

Cub Scouts - da bears

Jevan and I have been called to be Cub Scout leaders over the Bears. We just had our Blue & Gold Banquet tonight (Feb. 25th). I was asked to pick a theme and decorate for it. I guess this dinner is a big deal, it is to celebrate the b-day of scouts. I chose to do a jungle theme and call it the "Baloo & Gold" banquet. I learned the cub scouting program was based off of the jungle book and some Native American things. So I watched the jungle book about 12 times this past week (not by my choice, Jade loves it and is constantly playing it) but it helped me get some ideas. I bought some jungle/animal theme decor and made a poster with their theme, oh and did a cake, and finally this is what they got: (sorry some of the pics are out of order)

Here is the cake, the boys made the little figurines and trees. They did pretty good! And it tasted pretty good, if I can say so myself! :)

I've been doing some drawing lately

When I was in high school I used to do a lot more art. I guess it was because I had an art class everyday (during school) for 3 years. I had that time set everyday to be creative. Now I have more important things to occupy my time; like my hubby and my 2 cute kiddos, and even some fun friends and a sister close by.

For Christmas this year Jevan and I decided not to buy each other presents, but somehow I knew he wouldn't stick to that. I had no idea what he was secretly getting me so I decided to do a drawing for him. I really never sketched much back in the day, it used to be mostly painting. But I thought I'd give it a try. So this is what he got for Christmas:
After my drawing for Jevan turned out, I thought I'd give something a bit harder a try and it turned out alright too. I think I will do one of Jade on her blessing day too. Maybe make it a thing I will do for my kids. (look at that handsome, happy boy! I just love him to pieces!)My mother in law saw my other sketches and ask me to draw the whole Weeks family for Merv's B-day. I had 20 days to draw 36 ish people. I gave it a try and after 3 people i said forget it. So then I decided to give a Merv and Clara Jean sketch a try. Much easier then 36 people. lol! She is giving this 11x17 sketch to him for his b-day now. I am pleased with the way it turned out. Here are some pics of the sketch in progress.

2 weeks old already

Our little Levi is already over 2 weeks old. He is 8.6 lbs now and 20 inches. So he's growing a little bit.

He spends more time awake now. Jade loves when he looks at her, she laughs and makes faces at him.

We all do a lot of this. I love snuggling with my little wookies. Nap time is great!

Introducing Baby Levi

I had my last Dr. appointment this past Thursday the 23rd. At my apt. my Dr. asked if I'd like to be induced later that day. I called Jevan (who was at home in West Point) and told him our options, thursday or monday to be induced or maybe going on my own over the weekend. My dr said he'd call when labor and delivery could take us.

The hospital called me at 2 pm and asked if i could be there by 2:30. I called Jevan who had just started his shift 5 minutes before, and asked him to leave and come up to logan so we could have this baby. I drove myself in and met my parents there so they could take Jade.

By 3 I had the paper work done and they were ready to get me going. By 3:30 I was all hooked up and started into labor. Jevan arrived shortly after. The Dr. came in and broke my water, a while later I got an epideral, and at 7 they called the Dr. He was there by 7:15 and I was allowed to start pushing, Levi Jevan was born at 7:37 pm. He weighed 7.5 lbs and was 19.5 inches long. He has lots of dark hair. We stayed in the hospital till friday night. I was relieved to get out. I was going crazy just sitting there. Honestly I hardly feel like i just had a baby. I know they tell you to take it easy after, but I went and hung out with some of my sisters that night and the next day went to a dinner before the RS broadcast. Then I went to dinner with my hubby and his brother. Don't worry I kept strangers at a distance from our new wookie.

We stayed at Jevan's parents house till Monday night, we had a Dr. check up for Levi on Monday. They had to check him for Jaundice again. His test came back great.

Jade loves our new baby, she is always asking to snuggle, kiss and hold him. I ask him what our baby's name is and she says "wahhaaa".

Jevan's cousin was recently involved in an accident with a power line and was badly injured. He was cutting down a tree while in a man basket and a limb fell on an electrical wire. Mark grabbed the limb and could not let go. His father-in-law grabbed him and received a bad shock and couldn't help Mark.
He was rushed to the Hospital in Heber where they were able to restart his heart but he still wasn't breathing. He was then life-flighted to the University hospital.

They've been running tests and doing all they can to figure out the extent of the damage. He will not work again and his wife Jamie cannot work right now, they also have 2 small children.

If you would like to help Mark and Jamie Padigimus, there are accounts set up at Mountain America and Wells Fargo in Mark's name. Any amount, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your prayers and support.

A bit of September

My little sister Heidi got married, the 10th of September. Even tho this baby is due soon I was able to get pretty involved. She asked me to do her cake and also her hair and then my mom and I decorate weddings so we took up that task also. Here is the Bride and my mom at the luncheon. Hawiian Haystacks! Yum!

Jade sure loved seeing all her cousins and playing with her daddy!

Here is the top of the cake, her colors were orange, pink, yellow, and purple. The cake was three layers, 2 were rice crispys and the layer they cut was german chocolate. The frosting was vanilla, almond buttercream and then my homemade fondant. It turned out pretty good.

Here is a shot of our new house in West Point. We sure are loving it. I will have to post more pics when I finally get everything in order. Our baby is due in 9 days so hopefully I can get it all done before then. I can't wait to meet this little guy. I sure am ready to be done being pregnant. I hope Jade can adjust to this new baby quickly and happily.

Weddings

Jevan's brother Jake got married this past Tuesday. I had the opportunity to make their wedding cake. I've made a dozen cakes before this one, but I have never made my own fondant. I'll tell you what tho, I loved this fondant, so much easier and better tasting then store bought fondant. Here is the finished cake at the reception. I'll have to post pics later of the cute rice crispy layers on the bottom two.

This is just the wedding time of the year for us, my little sister gets married on Sept. 10th. I am also making her cake. Hopefully this baby doesn't come early!

But getting ready for all of these weddings made me remember that I never posted about my anniversary this past June 17th. It's been 4 years for us. I did infact make my own cake, crazy I know. Here are some pics that I actually found today, while packing and organizing. I was thinking I didn't get any of my cake or reception, so glad I was wrong and have these.

Here we are 4 years ago coming out of the Logan temple. I can't believe how the time has flown by. We look a bit different today. Maybe a little older and wiser?

My little Jader bug loves taking baths. She even pretends she's swimming, she loves splashing too. Tonight I gave her a bath and I'm pretty sure I ended up being more wet then her when we were done.

My little sister Heidi is getting married in September. All our sisters and her soon to be in-laws all went dress shopping. We all picked out dresses we wanted to see her in. After about 20 dresses my sister Sarah brought in this beauty and it happened to fit her perfectly and looked amazing on her. This was the one! It was so fun to be there and share that time with her. The dress is nothing like what she had in mind at first. So excited for you Heidi and Alan!

Jade has been a bit of a drama queen lately. She is either happy or mad, no inbetween. But she has also been good at letting me do her hair. I'm not too brave yet, but I love to do pig tails on her. She will even leave the flowers/bows in most the day now. :) yeah!

Her hair is so fine and thin but it has the most beautiful natural curl to it.

Jade and I went to Jevan's family reunion without him this year. They go to the Uintas every year over by Vernal. Most the family brings their trailers. But we slept in a tent for 2 nights. Jade did amazingly well. She loved the tent and loved being outside 24/7. She took great naps during the day and slept so well at night. It was a long 3 days without Jevan, he had to work so he wasn't able to make it. Hopefully next year. I'm not taking 2 kids camping by my self. Here is my 6 month pregnancy pic too. Sorry it's not very good, but I wasn't that big still.

I had just noticed that some of you still had my tutu website button on your blogs. I'm sorry I forgot to tell you that we stopped our website back in March. So if you have our button on your blog, if you wouldn't mind deleting it that would be great. That web address has been taken up by another company now and they have a site set up on it.

26 years young!

Today is June 1, 2010. That means it is Jevan's Birthday!!! He turns 26 today. We don't have any huge plans today. He did have to be in SLC this morning at 8 am so he could do his last test for the clearfield officer job. The test is 4 hrs long and they are testing to see if he's crazy! lol. What a nice b-day present, here take a test on your birthday. oh well I'm sure he'll do great!
Jevan- Jade and I sure do love you. We are so grateful that you are part of our lives. You are such an amazing dad and husband. I love to watch you play with Jade and watch her copy the things you do. I am amazed at your strength and faith in everyday life. I am so blessed to have you as my best friend. Hope you have a great birthday! We love you!

Jevan's Graduation

Well for those of you who don't know, Jevan has been attending Weber State's Police Academy since January. As of today (May 19th, 2010) he is all certified and graduated! I am so proud of him and all the hard work and dedication he's put into the academy.
My mom and little sister Heidi were able to come and Jevan's Mom, Dad and his brother Jake also came. We were happy they could come support Jevan and I was glad to have the help with Jade, it would have been hard to keep her occupied for 2hrs, all alone.

Jevan got an award for being Top of his class in Physical Fitness.
We were able to snap a few pics before heading off to lunch. Oh and I'm going to count this as my 20 ish week pregnancy photo. I was thinking I was a lot bigger with Jade at this point, but I'm sure it'll pop out one of these days. :)

Well I had my ultrasound today... and it looks like Jade is getting a little BROTHER!!!! Yep that's right we are having a boy. Any name suggestions? They also moved my due date back a week. So it is now closer to Oct 4th. Which i'm okay with.

My Jade is now 18 months old! It has been a fun and challenging journey getting this far. But I can't wait to see what the next 18 years have in store for her. I love watching her grow and learn about new things, she gets smarter by the day. I'm sure she'll be an awesome big sister. We love you Jade!

Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Eggs

I love peanut butter cups. I love reeses pieces. I love Hagen Daz Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream. I love chocolate and peanut butter together. Yum!

So for Easter, I have a good excuse to make these yummy chocolate covered peanut butter eggs! Yum yum yum!

And the best part? They are so simple!

Peanut Butter Eggs

1 cup crushed graham cracker crumbs
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons margarine
1 bag semi sweet chocolate chips or melting chocolate (a good brand)

Combine all ingredients.
Mixture should be moist enough to shape, but not too gooey.
Shape into egg shapes.
Place on waxed paper and freeze for 30+ minutes until firm.
Melt chocolate in microwave on low.
Dip eggs in chocolate and let set on wax paper.

Yield: 1 recipe makes approximately 24 eggs

Eat and enjoy!

We have some exciting news! But this is how Jade took it...

"You're having a what?!? You mean I'm not going to be an only child anymore?!?"

Okay she didn't really take it like that but i just love this picture of her. She was growling at me tho. So stinkin cute!

So we are having another baby! I'm due September 25th ish. So only like 6 1/2 more months. I've been feeling alright but am starting to feel great! Not really showing yet either, only i can tell what that little bump is. We are so excited and they'll be about 2 yrs apart. Jade loves to look at pictures of babies and even hold her little cousin when ever possible. If I ask her where mom's baby is she'll point at my tummy. I love it, and she can kinda say baby too but it sounds more like bab ba. If anyone has any great advise for having two kids i'd love to hear it!

Jades hair is getting so long. It's fun when she'll let me do it, she looks so grown up too. If i don't pull it back it gets so tangly, oh well!

The other day i was letting her feed herself, she was being so goofy. She would put the spoon in the bowl and then with her mouth she would pick up the spoon with her teeth.

Christmas Morning

Christmas morning started out a little after 8 so we got to sleep in a little bit. I was so excited to give Jade and Jevan their gifts. My favorite thing i gave Jade was this big elephant. It is almost 3 ft tall and you can sit on it, it is also very soft and fuzzy. This pic is her running to it.

It was fun to watch her open all her other presents, and she even helped us open ours.

Our tree, I decided to buy some new ornaments this year. The colors were so cute.

After Thanksgiving in Vernal we stopped on our way home and cut our Christmas Tree. It was freezing but Jade loved hiking around in the snow and cold.
Here is our huge but beautiful tree. Yeah we finally found our tree!Jevan and his brother Jake and his friend Mommo, tying our tree so it would travel back to Cache Valley.

I made these cute little treats for my co-workers for thanksgiving. I got the idea off my friends blog called Craft Rookie. She always has fun holiday and craft ideas.

I was feeling pretty crafty in November. I also made this whole shirt for Jade. Her little hand is the turkey, it even has feet and a beat and a gobbler. I have to say I think it turned out so cute!

halloween party and the airport

October 30th we went to Jevan's family's Halloween party. We always dress up and carve pumpkins and then eat a big dinner. It really was a lot of fun! Jevan was an dead inmate, I was a cop and Jade was piglet.

On October 31st my little brother Stephen got home from his mission in South Korea. A lot of our family was there to greet him at the air port. Most of us dressed up for Halloween. It was fun to introduce him my Jade and the other three new grandkids he hadn't met yet. He is doing great and even tho he sounds kind of funny, and smells like Korea it's great to finally have him home!

My sister Emily made these signs for all of the grandkids to hold the said "Trick or Treat it's time to meet........" and then we all wrote in our kids names.

Sorry I haven't posted in a long time. Life has been pretty busy. In September I started working at the Bear River Health Department, for their flu season. I've enjoyed it so far.

My little brother Stephen will get home from his mission on Halloween! I can't wait!

Okay on to the exciting news! Jade just turned ONE!!! I can't believe how fast time has flown by. We had a little party on her b-day with some family and close friends. I thought it was pretty fun to watch her open her presents and eat her cake. I was hoping she'd dig into her cake and make a mess, but she didn't, she just picked at it and ate it piece by piece and would lick off her sticky fingers. She got some great gifts and has been playing with them all non stop. Most of them make noise, sing songs, and light up and she loves that!

I been trying to get family pictures done for a while. Finally I convinced my sister to take some for us. So we went out on the railroad tracks by the logan golf course and had some taken on Friday. Well nothing too exciting has happened lately...

We did celebrate our 3rd anniversary. We were married June 17th 2006 in the Logan Temple. It was a beautiful day and everything went perfectly. Well to celebrate this year we didn't do a whole lot. We took Jade with us and we went to Olive Garden and ate and then we walked through the new Walmart. Romantic huh? lol well I enjoyed it. Pretty simple and relaxing.

The first week in July we had Jevan's moms family reunion in the Uintahs. We got there Wednesday afternoon and stayed till Saturday afternoon. It was so fun even tho it rained and poured the whole time. We had my parents 8 man tent, so we had plenty of room. It did leak a little but not where we were sleeping, thankfully. Jade did so good up on the mountain. She took naps and even slept good at night even tho it was cold and rainy. We did miss all the fireworksfor the 4th but we are glad to go to Mendon's this weekend on the 25th.

This past month Jevan has started selling berries for his dad again, so he's been up early and gone till late. It stinks having him gone all day long but I guess it's worth it. Eating berries isn't too bad either. lol!

Jade is 9 months old today!!! I can't believe how fast time is flying by. She has been crawing on all 4's for a month or two now i can't even remember when she decided to do that. It has been so exciting and fun to watch her learn new things and grow up. She has also been pulling herself up on everything and trying to walk along the furniture. She has also begun to make all kinds of funny noises and if you make one of them to her she'll mimick you. I love it. My favorite is when she growls. So adorable! I can't believe she'll be a year in just 3 months. I feel like she was just born yesterday! She's deffinately not my little baby anymore.

The last thing is Jevan and I are reading the Twilight series. He probably doesn't want me telling everyone this, but he is really enjoying them. He is halfway through book #2 and I just finished #3 and started #4 yesterday. We are trying to get them all read by the time the New Moon comes out in Nov. I can't wait! I have already read the whole series but I thought I should re-read them. Any one who hasn't read them, I think you should. They are fun and entertaining.

The past few months have flown by. I don't think life will ever slow down. Here are some random pictures I've taken.

This is Jade all dressed up in her little pink/brown giraffe dress, it had this matching hat. She looked so adorable in it i just couldn't resist a photo shoot.

Jevan and I went to the Super Cross in April it was in SLC. It was just us 2, our moms took shifts watching Jade. We went down in the early afternoon, the actual race didn't start till 6 or so. It was so fun to walk around the pits and see all the bikes and other crazy people. lol! We had some good seats, great company and lots of cold and rain!

It's been a while

Sorry it has been a couple weeks since I last updated. I've been waiting to post till I download all the pictures off my camera, but there isn't enough room on our computer. lol! So I will just post now and put pics up later.

Well where to start? Jade is almost 7 months old, and 21 lbs. She is starting to get those top teeth in which have been a little rough. She has had a fever the last 2 days ranging from 99.9 to 102.2 so if she still has one tomorrow I have to take her in. It's so sad when babies are sick.

Last week on mother's day we went out to my parents and were able to talk to my little brother on the phone. He is on a mission in South Korea, and only has 5 months left. I can't wait to see him. For Mother's day I bought myself some cute shorts and I also got a badly needed hair cut. We also went out to Lewiston to Jevan's sisters house for a BBQ. It was beautiful weather, and we were able to walk through her new house, which I loved (got some good ideas for when we build someday).

We've just been playing and enjoying being outside. Jade and I have been pulling weeds and trying to make our yard look good. Jevan even showed me how to drive our riding lawn mower if you're lucky i'll put pics of that up later. lol!

Early Easter Eggs Hunt

This past saturday my family all got together to watch General Conference, we also had our Easter Egg hunt for the little kids. Jade was sleeping so I collected her eggs for her.

Before the egg hunt started we played a quick game of red light, green light to keep the kids occupied.

All the grandkids (minus sleeping Jade) posing with their candy filled eggs. They were so excited to be getting all that candy. My parents have 10 grandkids all under the age of 5.

Jevan was hurrying off to eat the candy before I could get some of it.

Once we went inside Jade was awake waiting for us to play with her. We showed her the eggs we got for her, she loved playing with them and sucking all over them. Next year will be so fun with her running around.

So in the past month Jade has gained a little over a pound. She now weighs 19.08 lbs. Crazy I know. Lately I have been trying to get jade to roll over, say momma or dada, and eat rice cereal. Well finally today I have succeeded in all three! yeah!!!

She has been eating rice cereal the past month and finally isn't spitting out every bite.

She yells "dadadddaaa dadda!" I think it's her curse word. Lol! She only does it when she's kind of mad. Haha!

Then today we were out at my mom's house and she just rolled over like it was no big deal, and then she kept doing it over and over. I was so excited!!! Our little wookie is getting so big, I can't believe how fast time is flying by. Before I know it i'm sure she'll be walking.

Oh so I have another thing to add to Jades 5 month old list..... between last night (march 24th) and this morning (march 25th) she had her first tooth come through on the bottom. It looks like 3 others are coming in close behind. blagh! Wow it seems like she is getting so big so fast, and i can't slow it down.

St. George Race

This past weekend we went down to the St. George desert race. I decided to be brave and take Jade with. She did really well. We had a fun time sitting out enjoying the warm weather and getting way sunburned, while Jevan raced his dirt bike.

Just a quick fill up and then on his way, well almost his bike was

having electrical problems so he had to be push started.
